Telangana ACB exposes rampant corruption in everyday government services
In September 2025, the Telangana Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) arrested 22 public servants and one outsourcing employee. The crackdown exposed widespread corruption in routine government services rather than high-profile scandals. The arrests revealed how bribery and misuse of power had become common in everyday administrative tasks. The officials were caught in cases ranging from small bribes to amassing assets worth ₹14.05 crore. Their roles included revenue clearances, inspections, licensing, and enforcement—areas where citizens frequently interact with authorities. Four of those arrested worked in departments known for high corruption rates since 2020. These included the Revenue, Police, and Panchayat Raj departments, all among the top 10 most corrupt in Telangana. The ACB stressed the importance of trap-based vigilance to catch corrupt officials. Investigations showed that corruption had become normalized at lower levels of administration, often going unnoticed in daily operations. The arrests highlight how systemic corruption affects basic public services. Officials involved in routine tasks were found exploiting their positions for personal gain. The ACB's actions suggest ongoing efforts to tackle graft in everyday governance.
