Terminally Ill Killer May Reveal Where Sharon Fulton's Body Lies After 38 Years
A man convicted of murdering Sharon Fulton in 1986 has been sentenced to life in prison. Raymond Reddington received his punishment in October 2023, over three decades after the crime. Now, as he faces terminal illness, police are renewing efforts to locate Fulton's remains. Sharon Fulton was last seen in March 1986 after dropping her son Heath off in Wangara, Perth. Her disappearance remained unsolved for years until a fake confession letter in 2021 led investigators to Reddington. He was later found guilty of her wilful murder.
Reddington, now suffering from bile duct cancer, may have as little as 18 months to live. Despite his life sentence, he will be eligible for parole in 20 years.
Western Australian Police have focused their search on an area near the Canning River in Perth's southern suburbs. Ground-penetrating radar and cadaver dogs detected possible signs of a shallow grave in March 2026. Forensic excavation is set to begin on April 1, 2026, with DNA testing and further searches planned in nearby bushland.
Heath Fulton, Sharon's son, has spoken publicly about his family's wish to finally recover her remains. Police continue to appeal for information, urging anyone with details to contact them or Crime Stoppers. The investigation into Sharon Fulton's disappearance remains active, with authorities determined to find her body. Forensic work and expanded searches will continue in the coming months. Meanwhile, Reddington's conviction stands as the case moves toward its final chapter.
