Tesla introduces stripped-down Model Y in Germany too - Tesla Launches Affordable Model Y in Europe at €39,990
Tesla has launched a more affordable version of its Model Y in Europe, priced at €39,990. Dubbed the 'Standard' Model Y, it's produced at the Grünheide plant near Berlin. This comes as Tesla faces increased competition and Elon Musk's political activities impact sales in the region.
The new 'Standard' Model Y offers fewer features than its 'Premium' counterpart. It has fewer speakers, lacks a rear seat display, and sports a simpler front design. Despite these reductions, it still boasts an impressive range of 534 kilometers, though it's 88 kilometers less than the 'Premium' variant's 622 kilometers.
Tesla's sales in Germany have significantly declined this year. In the first nine months, registrations halved to 14,845 vehicles. This downturn can be attributed to increased competition and Musk's political activities. Meanwhile, Tesla's U.S. sales received a boost when President Donald Trump ended electric car subsidies, driving more customers to the brand.
The 'Standard' Model Y, manufactured in Grünheide, is Tesla's response to Europe's competitive market and declining sales. While it offers fewer features, it maintains a substantial range and a more affordable price point. Tesla's sales performance in Europe will be closely watched as the new model hits the market.
