Tesla's Cybercab Robotaxi Hits the Streets in Bold North American Debut

Tesla has unveiled its long-awaited robotaxi, the Cybercab, at a high-profile event in the nation's transport hub. The reveal took place on March 10, 2026, during the first federal forum on autonomous vehicle safety. Early production models are now being shipped to major North American cities for final testing and certification.

The first mass-produced Cybercab rolled off the assembly line last month at Tesla's Gigafactory in Austin, Texas. This facility serves as the primary manufacturing site for both the Cybertruck and the new robotaxi. Over 30 units have already been spotted this week undergoing tests and being prepared for transport.

The Cybercab's design removes traditional controls, offering passengers more legroom than any other Tesla model. Inside, the production-ready version includes a 21-inch centre display, a larger safety camera, two USB-C ports, and durable, easy-to-clean materials in the rear storage area. Footage also shows automated camera washers in action, ensuring clear visibility without human help. Volume production remains on schedule to start in April. Elon Musk has set an ambitious long-term target: one Cybercab produced every 10 seconds. Early units are now being deployed to gather localised data and complete safety certifications for fully unsupervised operation.

The Cybercab's debut marks a key step toward Tesla's autonomous transport goals. With production ramping up in Texas and testing underway across North America, the company is pushing ahead with its timeline. The robotaxi's unique design and advanced features aim to redefine urban mobility in the coming years.
