New crime statistics for 2024 show theft and traffic offences dominated convictions in Berlin and Brandenburg. Both regions recorded similar trends, with nearly half of those convicted having prior criminal records. Men made up the vast majority of offenders in each area. In Berlin, theft and embezzlement were the most frequent crimes, accounting for 21.4 percent of all convictions. Property and document-related offences followed closely at 21.0 percent. Traffic violations also played a significant role, representing 20.5 percent of cases. The 2024 figures highlight persistent challenges with theft, traffic violations, and repeat offending. Authorities in both Berlin and Brandenburg will likely focus on these trends in future crime prevention efforts. The data also confirms that men remain the majority of those convicted in the region.
