Thomas Weber named permanent head of Oldenburg-Stadt police after year-long interim role

Thomas Weber has been officially appointed as the new head of the Oldenburg-Stadt/Ammerland Police Inspectorate. The announcement was made by Police President Andreas Sagehorn on Friday, 14 February 2025. Weber had been serving as the acting head since March 2024.

Weber's appointment follows the departure of Rainer Schmalfuß, who held the position until 2022. Before taking on this new role, Weber was the head of the Central Criminal Investigation Unit (ZKI) in Oldenburg since 2018. Prior to that, he held a leadership position as the long-standing head of the Central Criminal Service (ZKD) at the Friedhofsweg inspectorate.

With his extensive experience in leadership roles within the police force, Weber is expected to bring valuable expertise to the Oldenburg-Stadt/Ammerland Police Inspectorate. His appointment was made official after serving as the acting head for nearly a year.
