Three Arrested in Hamburg After Alleged Armed Carjacking and Theft

Three men were arrested in Hamburg-Hamm on Monday afternoon after an alleged armed robbery. Police detained the suspects following reports of a firearm threat and theft. Authorities have now launched a criminal investigation into the incident.

The incident began at around 2:50 p.m. on March 10, 2026, when a 34-year-old man reported being threatened in his car. According to his statement, two younger suspects entered his vehicle, brandished a firearm, and demanded cash before escaping with the money.

Plainclothes officers from Precinct 41 spotted two individuals fleeing the scene and getting into a waiting Volkswagen Golf. The car's occupants—a 20-year-old Syrian, a 44-year-old Syrian, and a 17-year-old German—were then provisionally detained in Luisenweg.

During the arrest, police recovered a loaded blank-firing gun and the allegedly stolen cash. The State Criminal Police Office (LKA) took over the case and transferred the trio to pretrial detention. They are scheduled to appear before a magistrate today.

The investigation remains active, with the LKA and public prosecutor's office examining the suspects on charges of armed robbery with a firearm.

The three men remain in custody as the case moves forward. If convicted, they could face serious penalties under German law. Authorities have not yet released further details on the ongoing inquiry.
