Murder Case on Bali: Three Australians Sentenced to Long Prison Terms - Three Australians jailed for deadly Bali villa shooting plot
Three Australian men have been convicted for their roles in a deadly shooting on Bali last year. The attack took place at a holiday villa in Badung, where two hitmen fatally shot one Australian man and critically wounded another. All three now face lengthy prison sentences in Indonesia.
The incident unfolded in June when two gunmen, aged 23 and 27, stormed a villa in Badung. They opened fire, killing one Australian man and leaving another seriously injured. After the attack, the pair initially escaped but were later captured in Cambodia and extradited to Indonesia.
The mastermind behind the plot, a 27-year-old Australian, was arrested shortly afterwards at Jakarta's airport. He was found guilty of orchestrating the attack and supplying the firearms. A court handed him a 12-year prison term for his involvement.
Meanwhile, the two hitmen received harsher sentences of 16 years each. Their convictions included charges of murder, illegal firearms possession, and aiding and abetting the crime.
The trial has concluded with all three men now serving time in Indonesian prisons. The 23- and 27-year-old gunmen will remain behind bars for 16 years, while the organiser faces a 12-year sentence. No further details have emerged about public reactions in Australia or the background of the crime.
