Thuringia marked Reformation Day, honouring Martin Luther and his theses, but also acknowledging the complex legacy of the reformer. The day was filled with celebrations and commemorations, including a poignant reminder of the Peasants' War 500 years ago.

The festivities began with church services, including a special service in Bad Frankenhausen commemorating the anniversary of the Peasants' Battle in 1525. State Bishop Friedrich Kramer used his sermon to remember the bloody end of the Peasants' War, drawing parallels with modern conflicts like the one in Gaza.

Across Thuringia, local authorities and churches hosted markets, guided tours, and concerts, attracting thousands of residents and visitors alike. The rededication of the world's oldest surviving Protestant stone pulpit in Heldburg was also planned, highlighting the enduring impact of the Reformation.
