Top Naxalite Bhupathi Surrenders, Urges Comrades to Abandon Violence

In a significant development, top Naxalite Mallojula Venugopal Rao, known as Bhupathi, surrendered to Gadchiroli police on October 14. Bhupathi, an active polit bureau and central committee member of CPI (Maoist), urged his active comrades to abandon violence and join mainstream society.

Bhupathi's surrender comes after a video appeal, where he advised active Maoists to leave violence, surrender, and work among people. He stated that acts of violence have caused ultras to move away from the people, indicating the 'failure of the path'. Bhupathi, along with Rupesh, provided their mobile phone numbers for active Naxalites to contact if they wanted to leave the Naxalite movement. This move follows the Gadchiroli Police's efforts, led by Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and senior police forces, to address active Naxalites and encourage them to lay down arms and return to the mainstream.

Bhupathi's surrender and appeal mark a potential turning point in the Naxalite movement. His advice to active comrades to join societal reconstruction efforts could pave the way for more ultras to lay down arms and reintegrate into mainstream society.
