Toronto man charged after alleged racist and antisemitic harassment spree

A 27-year-old Toronto man faces multiple charges after a suspected hate-motivated harassment incident. Police allege the man targeted a complainant with racist and antisemitic behaviour over several days in early March. The case is now being handled by the hate crime unit.

The incidents took place between 28 February and 6 March near Eglinton Avenue East and Mount Pleasant Road. On two occasions, the accused reportedly went to the complainant's home, banging on the door while making racist and antisemitic remarks.

On a third visit, he stood outside the residence and played a recorded speech by Adolf Hitler from his phone. Following an investigation, police charged the man with two counts of criminal harassment, two counts of mischief, and one count of causing a disturbance. The accused is set to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice on 1 June at 2 p.m. No public statements from the local Jewish community regarding the incident have been recorded in available sources.

The case remains under investigation as a suspected hate-motivated offence. The accused will face court proceedings next month. Authorities have not released further details about the complainant or the ongoing inquiry.
