Toronto’s Eglinton Crosstown LRT remains unfinished after years of delays

Toronto’s public transport network faces further delays as the Eglinton Crosstown LRT remains unfinished. Originally due in 2020, the project has been hit by repeated setbacks. Meanwhile, the Finch West LRT is now confirmed to open on December 7, 2025.

The Eglinton Crosstown LRT was first expected to launch five years ago. However, the pandemic, legal disputes, and software issues have caused multiple postponements. Testing was also halted after two finches collided at the Mount Dennis train yard.

The Eglinton Crosstown LRT continues to operate without a confirmed schedule. Its repeated delays contrast with the Finch West LRT, which is set to open as planned. Commuters will have to wait for further updates on the Crosstown’s eventual launch.
