Trial begins for man accused of stabbing blind partner ten times in their apartment

A 29-year-old man is standing trial in Bonn for the alleged murder of his 30-year-old partner. The victim, who was nearly blind, was stabbed at least ten times in their apartment building last May. Prosecutors have classified the killing as murder by stealth due to her inability to anticipate the attack.

The attack took place on a Saturday morning in Troisdorf. According to investigators, the man used a butcher's knife, later recovered from the couple's apartment. After the assault, the defendant called emergency services, but the woman died in hospital from her injuries.

The case centres on the fatal stabbing of a visually impaired woman in her own home. If found guilty, the defendant could spend the rest of his life in prison. The trial continues as prosecutors seek to establish the full details of the attack.
