Tripura Police and GRP bust drug ring, arrest three with ₹5 lakh brown sugar
A joint operation by Government Railway Police (GRP) and Tripura Police late Wednesday night resulted in the arrest of three suspects. They were found in possession of brown sugar worth approximately Rs 5 lakh.
The suspects, identified as Sajiul Islam (22) and Farid Akhter (23) from Assam, and Salim Uddin (36), a BSF personnel, were apprehended during the raid. The operation was conducted following a tip-off about the transportation of narcotics. The seized brown sugar is estimated to be worth around Rs 5 lakh.
Details about Salim Uddin's specific role within the Border Security Force (BSF) or his involvement in the arrest have not been disclosed.
The three arrested individuals face charges of possession of narcotics. The successful operation highlights the collaborative efforts of GRP and Tripura Police in combating drug-related crimes in the region.
