One Seriously Injured in Collision with Tram - Truck Driver's Illegal U-Turn Causes Serious Tram Crash in Berlin
A serious accident occurred in Berlin-Lichtenberg on Wednesday evening when a 66-year-old truck driver attempted an illegal U-turn on Möllendorffstraße, colliding with an oncoming tram. The truck driver sustained severe injuries, while the 58-year-old tram driver suffered minor ones.
The incident happened near Rudolf-Reusch-Straße, causing significant disruption. Möllendorffstraße was completely closed to both car and tram traffic until around 11:00 PM, leading to substantial delays for commuters. The truck driver, who suffered head injuries, was trapped in his ram and had to be rescued by emergency services before being taken to the hospital. The truck was carrying several gas cylinders, which were carefully removed by emergency services to ensure safety.
