After Lkw Fire on A3, Asphalt Tested - Delays - Truck Fire on A3 Causes Major Disruption, Road Closures Expected Friday
A truck fire on the A3 between Kelsterbach and the Frankfurt interchange on Thursday afternoon caused significant disruption. The cause of the blaze remains unknown.
The incident led to the closure of the A3 in the opposite direction towards Würzburg due to water from firefighting efforts spilling onto the roadway. Delays are expected to continue on Friday morning, with the left lane in the direction of Cologne already closed. A second lane is set to be closed later in the morning for asphalt damage assessment.
The driver of the involved truck suffered minor injuries but was otherwise unharmed. No personal details have been released. Traffic in both directions and on nearby routes was heavily affected due to the incident.
The cause of the truck fire is still under investigation. Motorists are advised to expect delays and plan their journeys accordingly. Repairs to the road surface are expected to take place later in the morning.
