Trump Hints at 2028 Run, Eyes Potential GOP Candidates
Former President Donald Trump has hinted at a potential return to the White House in 2028, despite the constitutional limit on presidential terms. He has also shared his thoughts on potential Republican candidates for the next presidential election.
Trump, who left office in January 2021, has not ruled out a bid for a third term. The 22nd Amendment of the Constitution prevents a president from being elected to office 'more than twice'. However, Trump remains undeterred, stating, 'I would love to do it' when asked about a potential 2028 run.
In a recent statement, Trump dismissed the idea of running as vice president, saying, 'it's too cute' and 'the people wouldn't like that'. Instead, he has been looking ahead to the 2028 presidential polls. He mentioned Vice President JD Vance and Secretary of State Marco Rubio as potential Republican candidates. Trump also expressed his support for J.D. Vance, stating that he could be a strong contender.
Trump recently underwent health screenings at Walter Reed hospital, including an MRI scan, suggesting he is in good health and ready for another presidential campaign.
Despite the constitutional limit, Trump remains open to the idea of a 2028 presidential election bid. He has shown interest in the upcoming presidential polls, endorsing potential candidates and undergoing health screenings. However, it is unclear whether he will officially announce his candidacy or if the Republican party will support his bid.
