Trump Maintains Rigged Election Claims in CBS Interview, Hints at 2028 Run

Former President Donald Trump, in his first interview with CBS since suing the company, maintained his claims of a rigged 2020 presidential election despite lack of evidence. The interview, conducted at Trump's Mar-a-Lago estate in Palm Beach, Florida, was aired on 60 Minutes. Trump praised the recent changes at CBS News under new CEO David Ellison and editor-in-chief Bari Weiss, appointed in October 2025. He addressed the lawsuit against CBS, stating they were forced to pay him $16 million due to misrepresentation of an interview with Kamala Harris. This settlement led to the release of 60 Minutes transcripts of interviews with presidential candidates post-air. Trump did not rule out running for president again in 2028, citing the desire of many people for him to do so. He praised the Republican bench, mentioning Vice President J.D. Vance and Secretary of State Marco Rubio as potential candidates, while criticising prominent Democrats such as California Gov. Gavin Newsom, Rep. Jasmine Crockett, Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, and former Vice President Kamala Harris. Despite his continued claims of a rigged presidential election, Trump's interview with CBS marked a shift in his relationship with the network. His praise for the new leadership at CBS and openness about a potential 2028 run indicate a willingness to engage with the media and political landscape.
