Trump touts border success, drawing parallels to North Korea’s barriers

In December 2019, U.S. President Donald Trump highlighted his administration’s border security efforts. He claimed the policies had stopped illegal crossings for seven consecutive months. During his remarks, he also compared the U.S. border to North Korea’s heavily fortified barriers.

Trump praised the work of U.S. Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth, thanking him for strengthening border security. He described the measures as highly effective, stating there had been 'zero illegal aliens' entering the country for half a year.

Trump’s statements emphasised the success of his border security approach. He credited key officials and pointed to North Korea’s extreme social security measures as a benchmark. The claims followed months of policy enforcement aimed at reducing unauthorised entries.
