Trump's Days Are Numbered in the Palatinate - Trump's Days Are Numbered in the Palatinate
A German bakery named after Donald Trump is closing its doors by the end of the year. Located in Freinsheim, the shop gained fame as a tourist spot during U.S. presidential elections. Now, financial struggles and competition have forced its shutdown.
The bakery’s former owner, Ursula Trump, is a distant relative of the ex-U.S. president. Her family ran the business for seven generations before selling it to Stadtbäckerei Frankenthal (Mein Stadtbäcker). Under new management, the branch will close on December 31.
During election seasons, the bakery attracted visitors with its 'Trump Slice' cake. The special treat became a local favourite, drawing crowds curious about the Trump name. Despite the closure, staff—including Ursula’s daughter-in-law, Bianca Trump—will keep their jobs. The company plans to relocate them to other branches in the area. No new buyer has been announced for the Freinsheim location.
The bakery’s closure marks the end of a well-known local business. Its connection to Donald Trump once brought in tourists, but rising competition and financial pressures led to the decision. Employees will move to nearby branches, ensuring no job losses.
