Trump’s Latest Nuclear Regulatory Commission Picks Face Senate Scrutiny

President Trump has nominated two individuals for the Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) in recent months. Douglas Weaver, a mechanical engineer with nuclear industry experience, was nominated earlier this month. Meanwhile, the Senate will consider Ho Nieh's nomination upon their return from recess next week.

Weaver's nomination comes amidst concerns raised by Democrats regarding White House interventions at the NRC. Despite these concerns, Ho Nieh's nomination was approved by the Environment and Public Works Committee with bipartisan support. Nieh has promised to maintain independence from the White House if confirmed.

The Senate will now consider Ho Nieh's nomination upon their return from recess. Weaver's nomination status remains unclear, as no information about Donald Trump's NRC nominees or their confirmation status was found in the search results.
