Turkish man arrested for arson and €300K insurance fraud in Germany

A 45-year-old Turkish man has been arrested in Göppingen on suspicion of arson and insurance fraud. The incident, which took place in January 2026, involved a deliberately set fire that caused around €300,000 in damage to a cabin. Authorities have confirmed no other suspects are being pursued in the case.

The man was detained without resistance on February 16, 2026. Following a judicial hearing the next day, he was remanded into custody on charges of causing an explosion, property damage, and fraudulent insurance claims.

Searches of his home and business premises were carried out, with evidence seized for further examination. The Ulm Public Prosecutor's Office and Ulm Criminal Police continue to investigate the case. So far, the suspect has not commented on the allegations against him.

The arrested man remains in custody while investigations proceed. Authorities have ruled out additional suspects in connection with the arson attack. The case now awaits further legal steps as evidence is reviewed.
