TV chef Alexander Herrmann now sits in the Kulmbacher district council - TV Chef Alexander Herrmann Wins Council Seat from Last Place on CSU List
Alexander Herrmann, a familiar face from the TV cooking show The Taste, has won a seat on the Kulmbach District Council. Despite running in 50th and last place on the CSU party list, he secured election. The council oversees budget decisions and key policies for the rural region.
Herrmann's candidacy came after Henry Schramm, CSU president of Upper Franconia's district assembly, encouraged him to stand. A local businessman, Herrmann was born in Kulmbach and currently runs a restaurant and hotel in nearby Wirsberg, alongside another venture in Nuremberg.
The Kulmbach District Council consists of 50 seats, with the 2020 election results showing a mix of parties: CSU (16), FW (10), SPD (9), Grüne (5), WGK (4), AfD (3), FDP (2), and Linke (1). While the 2026 election's full results remain unpublished, Herrmann's entry via the CSU list has been confirmed.
Herrmann has stated he has no plans for a career in national politics. Instead, he aims to improve regional discussions and contribute to local decision-making.
Herrmann's election adds a new voice to the council, though his position on the CSU list was the lowest possible. His focus remains on supporting Kulmbach's community rather than pursuing higher political office. The council's updated party balance will be clearer once the full 2026 results are released.
