Suspected Burglar Triggers Police Response - Two false alarms in Bernkastel-Kues reveal unusual truths behind police calls

Police in Bernkastel-Kues responded to two separate incidents that initially raised concerns. One call reported a possible break-in, while another suggested an abduction. Both situations turned out to be false alarms with unexpected explanations.

The first incident began when officers arrived at a residential building after a neighbour reported a break-in. Inside, they found a man who had climbed through a basement window and forced open an interior door. Upon questioning, it became clear he was simply a forgetful resident who had locked himself out of his own apartment.

In the second case, police were alerted to a potential abduction after witnesses saw a woman being helped into a car. Further investigation revealed that the woman was heavily intoxicated and being assisted by an acquaintance. No criminal activity had taken place.

Both calls resulted in no charges or further action. The break-in was resolved when the resident confirmed his identity, while the suspected abduction was clarified as a good-faith effort to help. Authorities reminded the public to verify situations before reporting emergencies.
