Two Komi Writers Join Russia’s Literary Union for Children’s Books

Two writers from the Republic of Komi have joined the Union of Writers of Russia. Vera Tuisova, a biologist, and Tatiana Gabova, a retired math teacher, were both admitted for their contributions to children’s literature. Their works often explore historical themes while engaging young readers.

Vera Tuisova was born in 1988 in the village of Sherdino, Vuktyl District. She studied biology at Syktyvkar State University and now works in a clinical diagnostics laboratory. Alongside her scientific career, she has written children’s books, including Ladybug Glazunya, Leshy, Cheri, and Vyak and Rabbit Valentin and the Apple Lady. One of her recent works was completed in Moscow.

Tatiana Gabova, originally from the village of Meshchura in Knyazhpogost District, trained as a mathematician at the Komi State Pedagogical Institute. After retiring from teaching, she turned to writing. Her books, such as Ivanushka-Dubravushka and Dubravushka and Muramets, also blend history with storytelling for young readers.

Both authors share a focus on creating stories that introduce young readers to cultural and historical themes.

Their admission to the Union of Writers of Russia recognises their dedication to children’s literature. The two writers continue to produce books that entertain while connecting young audiences with history. Their works remain popular in Komi and beyond.
