Two Men Stand Trial for Fatal Stabbing of 59-Year-Old in Wuppertal
Two men, aged 26 and 29, will face trial at Wuppertal Regional Court for the joint manslaughter of a 59-year-old man. The victim was allegedly stabbed to death in his own apartment during an argument. Police have since searched an abandoned underpass near the crime scene as part of their investigation.
The incident took place in August 2023 in Wuppertal. Prosecutors claim the two suspects fatally stabbed the victim in his home after a dispute. Following the attack, they reportedly searched the apartment before fleeing.
The 59-year-old man suffered multiple stab wounds to his neck and upper body. The 26-year-old suspect, who knew the victim, was later arrested near the Wupper River, where he had been camping in a tent. A large police team also examined a long-disused pedestrian underpass close to the crime scene. The investigation has not revealed details about the defendants' living conditions or any prior conflicts with the victim.
The trial is ongoing at Wuppertal Regional Court. A verdict in the case is expected later this month. The two accused men remain in custody while proceedings continue.
