Two minors hospitalized after violent knife attack in Berlin's Gesundbrunnen

A violent confrontation between two minors took place in Berlin's Gesundbrunnen district on Tuesday evening. The incident, involving a 12-year-old and a 14-year-old, left both boys injured and required hospital treatment. Police have launched an investigation into the attack, which included a stabbing and an exchange of knife threats.

The altercation unfolded around 6:15 p.m. on Wollankstraße. Both boys were reportedly armed with knives during the clash. According to initial reports, the 12-year-old threw a knife at the 14-year-old before attempting to flee the scene.

The 14-year-old allegedly responded by kicking the younger boy and stabbing him in the back. Emergency services arrived shortly after and transported both minors to hospital. The 12-year-old remained under medical supervision for further treatment, while the 14-year-old was treated and later discharged. The case has now been transferred to a specialised unit within Police Directorate 1 (North). Authorities have noted a rise in violent incidents involving minors over the past year. In response, police have increased witness appeals for unsolved cases and strengthened collaboration with youth prevention teams. Measures under the Youth Court Act and social support frameworks are also being applied where necessary.

The investigation into the incident remains ongoing. Both minors received medical care, though the 12-year-old's injuries required extended hospitalisation. Police continue to monitor youth-related violence in the area while working with prevention programmes to address underlying issues.
