Two Teenagers Severely Injured After Crossing Road on Red in Berlin
Two teenage girls, aged 15 and 16, were severely injured after crossing a road against a red light in Berlin's Mitte district yesterday evening. The incident, which occurred at around 8:40 p.m., involved a 50-year-old female driver and is being investigated by a specialized police unit.
The accident happened on Alexanderstraße near the intersection with Bernhard-Weiß-Straße. The girls were struck by a car driven by a 50-year-old woman who was traveling toward Karl-Liebknecht-Straße. Both teenagers sustained severe multiple injuries and were immediately taken to a nearby hospital for inpatient treatment.
The case has been assigned Incident No. 0389 and is now being handled by a specialized unit at Police Directorate 5 (City) for further investigation. As of now, the name of the female driver has not been released to the public.
The investigation into this serious traffic incident is ongoing. The police urge witnesses to come forward with any information that could aid their enquiries. The teenagers remain in the hospital, and their conditions are being closely monitored.
