Two violent attacks in Germany leave men hospitalized as police investigate

A 41-year-old man suffered severe facial injuries in Spandau late last night after a violent attack near a shopping centre. The incident occurred around 10 p.m. on Klosterstraße, where the victim became involved in a verbal dispute with an unknown man before being struck in the face with an object. In a separate case, authorities continue to probe an attack on a 36-year-old train conductor earlier this month. The assault, which took place aboard a Regional Express train travelling from Landstuhl to Homburg on February 2, is now being treated as a suspected attempted murder. The Kriminaldirektion Kaiserslautern has taken charge, though no new updates have emerged since the initial report on February 13.

The Spandau attack unfolded near the entrance plaza of a shopping centre. The victim, a 41-year-old man, was engaged in a heated argument with another individual when the confrontation turned physical. The assailant allegedly struck him in the face with an unidentified object, causing a deep laceration. Emergency services rushed the injured man to hospital, where he underwent surgery for his wounds.

Meanwhile, the investigation into the train conductor's assault remains ongoing. The 36-year-old victim was attacked aboard a Regional Express service departing Landstuhl station on February 2. The suspect, a 26-year-old man, was apprehended at the scene by officers from Saarland state police and federal authorities. He was later transferred to the custody of the Amtsgericht Zweibrücken for judicial proceedings.

No further suspects have been identified in either case. The Kriminaldirektion Kaiserslautern, overseeing the train assault, has not released additional details since assuming control on February 13. Berlin's Criminal Investigation Division (Direktion 2 West) is now leading the Spandau inquiry, though no arrests have been reported so far.

Both victims remain in hospital care following their injuries.
