Two violent clashes at Chemnitz Central Station spark police probes
A violent altercation at Chemnitz Central Station on Saturday evening led to two separate police interventions. A 16-year-old Ukrainian girl reported being assaulted by her ex-boyfriend, while elsewhere in the station, a 28-year-old Czech woman stabbed a 33-year-old man. Authorities are now investigating both incidents.
The first incident unfolded around 7:30 p.m. in the underground pedestrian tunnel near the restroom facilities. A witness alerted police to an altercation involving a young couple. The 16-year-old victim later told officers she had arranged to meet her 19-year-old ex-boyfriend, a Russian national, to resolve a dispute. She alleged he pulled her hair, struck her head against a restroom door, called her a 'slut', and threatened her if she contacted the police. A friend of the girl corroborated her account.
Police apprehended the 19-year-old on Platform 1 after he initially attempted to flee. Following procedures at the scene, the teenager was released to her parents. Authorities have since filed criminal complaints against the 19-year-old for assault, insult, and coercion.
In a separate incident, a 28-year-old Czech woman stabbed a 33-year-old man elsewhere in the station. She was provisionally arrested at the scene but released later on the prosecutor's orders after forensic examinations. Investigations into the stabbing continue, with police treating it as a case of aggravated assault.
The 19-year-old suspect now faces potential charges for assault, threats, and coercion. Meanwhile, the stabbing investigation remains ongoing, with no further arrests made. Both cases highlight the police response to violent incidents in public transport hubs.
