U Penn Senior with Duchenne MD Hosts Bollywood Gala for Awareness & Funds
University of Pennsylvania senior Yuva Gambhir, living with Duchenne muscular dystrophy (DMD), will host and DJ the Bollywood Blingo Gala on Saturday, Oct. 18, in partnership with CureDuchenne. The event aims to raise awareness and funds for DMD research.
Gambhir, who relies on a power wheelchair for mobility, plans to launch a startup focused on artificial intelligence after graduation. Despite his condition, which causes progressive muscle weakness and loss, he maintains a regimented daily routine. The average life expectancy for individuals with DMD is 22 years, as per a 2020 ScienceDirect study. Gambhir, who has spoken about his journey in a TEDx Talk titled 'Live Hard, Party Harder', will also be the keynote speaker at the gala. The event, which starts at 6:30 p.m., will feature DJ Sanj as a guest speaker and DJ.
The Bollywood Blingo Gala on Oct. 18 will not only be a night of entertainment but also a significant step towards raising awareness and funds for DMD research. Yuva Gambhir's inspiring journey serves as a reminder of the strength and resilience of the human spirit.
