U.S. lifts sanctions against Brazilian federal judge - U.S. lifts sanctions on Brazilian judge who convicted Jair Bolsonaro
The U.S. government has lifted sanctions against Brazilian Supreme Federal Court Justice Alexandre de Moraes, his wife Viviane Barci de Moraes, and their law firm. These measures, previously freezing their U.S. assets, were imposed in response to de Moraes' legal actions against former President Jair Bolsonaro.
The sanctions were initially implemented under former U.S. President Donald Trump. They targeted de Moraes after he oversaw criminal proceedings that led to Bolsonaro receiving a significant prison sentence.
The removal of sanctions allows de Moraes, his wife, and their law firm to access their U.S.-based assets once again. This decision comes after a period of restrictions tied to the legal case involving Bolsonaro.
