U.S. to Label Antifa Ost and Three Other European Groups as Terrorists by November 2025
The U.S. State Department is set to designate four European extremist groups, including Germany's Antifa Ost, as terrorist organizations on November 20, 2025. This move aims to 'expose and isolate' these groups and individuals, denying them access to the U.S. financial system and resources.
Antifa Ost, also known as the 'Hammer Gang,' is a Germany-based militant organization that has carried out attacks against individuals perceived as 'fascists' or part of the 'far-right scene' between 2018 and 2023. The organization's violent activities have now drawn international attention.
Besides Antifa Ost, the U.S. will also designate three other European organizations as terrorist organizations. Two of these organizations are based in Greece, while the third is from Italy. This designation will officially take effect on the same date, November 20, 2025.
The U.S. State Department's decision to designate these organizations as terrorist organizations is a significant step in its efforts to combat extremism and violence across Europe. By cutting off their access to U.S. financial systems and resources, the U.S. aims to limit their ability to 'carry out attacks.'
