U.S. Tourist Visa Fees Soar to $435 Amid Tighter Integrity Measures
The U.S. Department of State has announced a significant increase in the cost of a U.S. tourist visa, effective October 1, 2025. The new fee stands at $435, a $250 rise from the previous $150. This change aims to cover additional administrative costs and enhance visa integrity measures.
The new visa fee includes a $250 'visa integrity fee' which, in theory, is refundable upon compliance with visa rules. The U.S. Consulate in Tijuana, one of the busiest, processes an average of 1,000 tourist visa appointments daily. Despite the fee increase, the average wait time for a tourist visa remains at 100 days, with exceptions made for emergencies and business purposes.
The U.S. government's visa fee hike aims to bolster visa integrity and cover rising administrative costs. Applicants should be prepared for the increased fee and plan accordingly, especially considering the average wait time for processing.
