Mumbai police have filed a case against Uber India Systems Pvt Ltd after a fatal bike taxi accident. The incident involved a rider using an unregistered Yamaha motorcycle, breaking the company’s permit rules. Authorities registered an FIR under criminal and motor vehicle laws.

The accident occurred when a cement mixer truck collided with a Yamaha motorcycle driven by Ganesh Madhav, an Uber 'rider partner'. The crash killed passenger Shubhangi Magare. Investigations revealed Madhav was using his private Yamaha motorcycle instead of the registered Activa scooter required by Uber’s permit.

The FIR marks a strict response to permit violations in Mumbai’s bike taxi sector. Uber now faces legal scrutiny over its compliance with government regulations. The outcome may impact how ride-hailing firms monitor vehicle usage in the city.
