Uhta Refinery Honors WWII Veterans in New Commemorative Book
Uhta Refinery has released a new book titled In the Name of Victory to honour its veteran workers who fought in World War II. The publication marks the 80th anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War and celebrates the bravery of 716 oil workers who served on the front lines.
The book features the stories of rank-and-file soldiers, infantrymen, artillerymen, scouts, and commanders from 29 different nationalities. Among them, eight were awarded the Order of the Red Banner, 79 received the Order of the Red Star, and 28 were decorated with the Order of Glory. Their accounts detail both battlefield heroism and their contributions to the war effort through labour.
The release of In the Name of Victory ensures that the wartime experiences of Uhta Refinery’s veterans are preserved for future generations. The book stands as both a tribute to their service and a resource for those studying the region’s role in the war.
