UK hospitality workers urged to expose inequality in landmark survey

A new sector-wide survey has launched to tackle inequality in the UK hospitality industry. The initiative, led by Be Inclusive Hospitality, is part of its Better Hospitality campaign. It calls on workers across the sector to share their experiences of pay, career progression, and workplace barriers. The campaign aims to create a fairer and more inclusive industry by addressing disparities linked to race and ethnicity. Issues such as unequal pay, limited career advancement, and workplace inequities are at the heart of the survey. Organisers hope the findings will lead to concrete improvements.

The survey is now live, encouraging everyone in hospitality—from entry-level staff to senior leaders—to participate. Lorraine Copes, CEO and founder of Be Inclusive Hospitality, has urged the entire sector to take part and make their voices heard. A diverse Leadership Group has formed to guide the campaign and push for measurable change. The effort is also supported by a broad network of Distribution Partners across the UK. Their involvement highlights the industry’s shared commitment to reaching workers nationwide. Results from the survey will shape new Equity & Progression Standards for employers. These standards aim to provide clear guidelines for fostering fairness and opportunity. The campaign’s findings will be published in a *Better Hospitality* report, set for release in September.

The Better Hospitality campaign seeks to drive long-term improvements in workplace equity. By gathering real-world data, it will help employers implement fairer practices. The report’s launch in September will mark a key step toward building a more inclusive industry.
