UK's new Hospitality Sector Council aims to revive pandemic-hit industry
A new Hospitality Sector Council has launched to support the UK’s recovery and growth in the industry. Co-chaired by small business minister Paul Scully and entrepreneur Karen Jones, the group aims to turn government plans into action. Scully described the move as a pivotal moment for hospitality, comparing it to an 'Avengers Assemble' for the sector. The council brings together key figures from across the industry. Members include UK Hospitality CEO Kate Nicholls, Nando’s UK & Ireland chief Colin Hill, and Mowgli founder Nisha Katona. Their goal is to shape a world-class hospitality sector by addressing challenges and fostering resilience.
Karen Jones, co-chair and Prezzo chair, stressed the importance of people and teams in driving success. She expressed pride in leading the council alongside Minister Scully. The group will focus on helping businesses reopen, recover, and adapt after the pandemic’s impact. Paul Scully highlighted the industry’s creativity and resourcefulness during lockdowns. The council’s work will align with the government’s Hospitality Strategy, ensuring the sector has the tools to thrive.
