Ulm Minster Loses Tallest Church Steeple Record to Barcelona's Sagrada Família
Ulm Minster, once the tallest church steeple in the world, has lost its record to Barcelona's Sagrada Familia. The Jesus Christ Tower of the Sagrada Familia stands 1.3 meters taller than Ulm Minster. Ulm's Lord Mayor, Martin Ansbacher, expressed surprise and a touch of sadness upon hearing the news.
Ulm Minster, a symbol of hope and belonging for Ulm residents, has held the record for over 30 years. Despite the loss, Mayor Ansbacher emphasized its enduring significance to the city and its people. He congratulated the Sagrada Familia on achieving the new record, acknowledging the architectural marvel in Barcelona.
The Sagrada Familia, designed by Antoni Gaudí, has been under construction since 1882. Its completion is expected in the coming years, further cementing its place in architectural history.
While the loss of the record is disappointing, Ulm Minster remains an iconic landmark for Ulm. The city looks forward to welcoming visitors who come to marvel at its unique architecture and the history it represents.
