Unanimous Vote by CDU Faction for Anna Lenker-Koukounarakis as Future Deputy Mayor
Anna Lenker-Koukounarakis has been chosen to lead Solingen’s Department 4, overseeing youth, education, integration, culture, and sports. The decision follows a unanimous vote by the CDU city council group. Currently, she serves as director of the Bergische Adult Education Centre.
Carsten Voigt, chairman of the CDU faction, announced the appointment with confidence. He highlighted Lenker-Koukounarakis’ professional skills and strong commitment to the role. Voigt also stressed the importance of close coordination with Mayor Daniel Flemm (CDU) in making this decision.
Lenker-Koukounarakis will take over from Dagmar Becker, who previously headed the department. The CDU caucus expressed enthusiasm about working with her to shape Solingen’s future. Voigt acknowledged the significant challenges she will face in her new position. During the introduction to the CDU caucus, members welcomed her experience and leadership. The group emphasised her ability to drive progress in key areas like education and integration.
