Unauthorised torchlit march disrupts Christmas Eve in Hamburg’s Harburg district
An unauthorised parade took place in Harburg on Christmas Eve. The group marched through the streets carrying torches and banners while shouting slogans linked to the banned Kurdish organisation PKK. Police have since launched an investigation into the incident.
The event began around 9 PM near the police station on Lauterbachstraße. Earlier in the day, many of the participants had attended a football tournament held on the same street. The group then moved towards the Phoenix district before dispersing as police patrol cars arrived.
The investigation remains ongoing after the unregistered march disrupted Christmas Eve in Harburg. Police will determine whether charges will be filed under assembly regulations. The incident follows a day of organised sports activities in the same area.
