Unauthorized Access during a Live Procedure: Important Surgery Hacks to Secure the Crown Prince's Future

In the tumultuous year of 1403, during the Battle of Shrewsbury, a remarkable event unfolded that would significantly alter the course of English history. The arrowhead, lodged deep in the skull of Prince Henry, future King Henry V, was a formidable obstacle. But thanks to the swift actions of John Bradmore, the royal surgeon and a skilled metalworker, the prince's life was saved.

Bradmore, recognising the urgency of the situation, devised an innovative tool to extract the arrowhead lodged in the prince's face without causing further harm. This unique instrument, crafted with precision, was designed to grip and remove the arrowhead from the bone. The tool featured a screw-like mechanism that could be inserted into the wound to securely hold onto the arrowhead, allowing Bradmore to gradually widen the wound around the arrow for safe extraction.

Following the successful removal of the arrow, Bradmore treated the wound with a concoction of honey and a special medicine to promote healing. This operation, one of the earliest documented successful attempts at such a delicate surgical procedure, was meticulously recorded by Bradmore in his surgery book, *Philomena*.

Bradmore's expertise as a surgeon and metalworker allowed him to create this groundbreaking tool, which stands out as an early example of specialized surgical instruments designed for battlefield injuries. His innovative approach undoubtedly played a crucial role in the prince's recovery, as Prince Henry refused to leave the battlefield and continued fighting for three more hours before being rushed to nearby Kenilworth Castle in a desperate attempt to save his life.

The survival of Prince Henry was indeed a stroke of good luck, but it was also a testament to the skills of his surgeon. John Bradmore's dedication to his craft was rewarded with a handsome pension for the rest of his life. The prince, who would later win the historic Battle of Agincourt, never forgot the man who saved his life.
