Driver without license flees on foot - Unlicensed driver leads police on high-speed chase before surrendering
A 27-year-old unlicensed driver led police on a chase in the Wesermarsch district before fleeing on foot. The incident began after officers attempted to stop the speeding vehicle on Federal Highway 437 in Stadland. Both the driver and his 28-year-old passenger abandoned the car and ran from the scene.
The chase started when police spotted the car travelling at high speed on the B437. Officers activated their blue lights and sirens, signalling for the driver to pull over. Instead, he accelerated and refused to stop.
A helicopter was called in to assist as the pursuit continued. Eventually, the driver lost control, and both men escaped into nearby fields. The passenger, aged 28, was later found by officers and gave details about the driver's identity. Meanwhile, the driver turned himself in at a local police station. Authorities quickly confirmed he had no valid driving licence. Criminal proceedings against him have now been launched.
The driver faces charges following the pursuit and his admission of driving without a licence. Police have completed their initial investigation, with the passenger's statement aiding the case. No further details about technical support or additional measures during the chase have been released.
