UNRWA Urges Lifting of Israeli Blockade on Gaza Amidst Humanitarian Crisis
UNRWA, the United Nations Relief and Works Agency, has urged the lifting of the Israeli blockade on the Gaza Strip. Commissioner-General Philippe Lazzarini stressed the dire humanitarian situation, with over two million people in need of aid.
Lazzarini called for international staff to be allowed into Gaza to provide assistance. He noted the momentum for a permanent ceasefire, highlighting the urgent need to address the famine and extreme humanitarian conditions caused by the Israeli occupation forces' aggression. The Israeli aggression has resulted in a staggering 67,074 fatalities and 169,430 injuries in Gaza.
Past diplomatic efforts, including those involving Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu and U.S. President Donald Trump, have led to indirect negotiations with Hamas that have affected Gaza's situation.
UNRWA's call for the lifting of the Israeli blockade is a response to the dire humanitarian crisis in Gaza. With over two million people in need, and a devastating toll of lives lost, international action is crucial to alleviate the suffering and pave the way for peace.
