Untrasried's Mayor Race Stalls as No Candidates Register by Deadline
Untrasried's upcoming mayoral election on March 8 faces an unusual situation. No official candidates have registered for the vote, despite the deadline approaching. The town last elected Alfred Wölfle in 2020 with a landslide 88.9 percent of the vote.
The election is scheduled for March 8, with polls open from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. To win outright, a candidate must secure over 50 percent of the votes. If no one achieves this, a runoff will take place on March 22.
In the 2020 municipal council election, Unity Untrasried dominated with 60.6 percent of the vote. The Hopfenbach Voters' Alliance followed with 39.4 percent. However, current searches show no registered candidates for the 2024 mayoral race in Untrasried itself.
Nearby Aitrang has confirmed nominations, including Simon Richter and Michael Hailand. But Untrasried's ballot remains empty for now, leaving residents uncertain about who will lead the town next.
The lack of registered candidates raises questions about the election's outcome. If no one steps forward, the town may need to extend nominations or explore alternative procedures. The final decision will depend on whether any last-minute entries emerge before voting begins.
