US Ambassador-designate Sergio Gor Meets PM Modi, Vows to Strengthen India-US Ties
US Ambassador-designate Sergio Gor has met with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi in New Delhi. The discussions covered crucial areas such as defence, trade, technology, and critical minerals. Despite recent trade tensions, both sides expressed optimism about strengthening India-US ties.
Gor, who was nominated in August and has served in Trump's administration, presented Modi with a photograph of himself with US President Donald Trump at the White House. During the meeting, Gor highlighted the personal friendship between Trump and Modi, which is expected to boost bilateral relations.
Gor was accompanied by Michael J. Rigas, Deputy Secretary for Management and Resources, during his six-day visit. They met with senior Indian officials, including External Affairs Minister Subrahmanyam Jaishankar, to discuss the India-US relationship and its global significance. Modi expressed confidence that Gor's tenure will further strengthen the India-US Comprehensive Global Strategic Partnership.
Gor's discussions with Indian officials have covered critical areas, indicating a focus on bolstering ties despite trade tensions. With both leaders expressing optimism and a personal friendship, the future of India-US relations appears promising.
