Ust-Kamenogorsk to get new sports and cultural hubs under governor’s plan
Governor Nurymbet Saktaganov has visited Ust-Kamenogorsk to review plans for new sports and cultural venues. The project includes a nypost hall, ice arena, and multiple sports facilities. Officials aim to improve urban life through these developments.
During his visit, Saktaganov inspected potential sites near the Independence Monument and the LIK residential area. Two key projects are planned: a 1,500-seat concert hall (Congress Hall) and a 500-seat ice rink by the monument, alongside a 5,000-seat sports arena and a modern swimming pool behind LIK.
The Congress Hall’s design already exists, which should speed up construction and reduce costs. The sports complex will feature dedicated spaces for rhythmic gymnastics, martial arts, basketball, volleyball, and a large fitness centre.
Saktaganov stressed the importance of good transport links and sufficient parking for the new venues. He also instructed local authorities to prepare proposals for an additional sports facility in the Sogra microdistrict.
The governor described these projects as a strategic move to enhance the city’s urban environment. While specific funding and planning news remain unclear, the facilities are expected to provide new cultural and sporting opportunities for residents.
