UTM Alumni Shine in Forbes 30 Under 30 for AR Innovation
Two Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM) alumni, Eswaran Mohan and Renuga Nair, have been named in the Forbes 30 Under 30 Asia 2025 list. Their company, Exar Technologies, specialises in augmented reality (AR) and immersive digital solutions, serving major brands worldwide. The recognition highlights Malaysia’s growing influence in the digital content economy.
Eswaran and Renuga founded Exar Technologies in 2018 while still students at UTM. Eswaran studied electrical engineering, and Renuga graduated from the Faculty of Science. Their startup quickly gained traction, becoming the first Asian company to partner with Snapchat as an official lens developer.
Eswaran and Renuga’s inclusion in the Forbes list underscores their impact on AR and immersive technology. Their work with global brands and commitment to mentoring young innovators strengthens Malaysia’s reputation in the digital economy. The company’s growth reflects broader efforts to advance AI and Industry 4.0 initiatives in the region.
