Vacha Grammar School Unveils New Stage with €5,000 Grant and Birthday Celebration
Vacha Grammar School has received a €5,000 grant for new stage equipment, officially presented in a ceremony last Thursday. The event also marked Headmistress Beate Dittmar's 65th birthday, celebrated with a musical performance by students.
Justice Minister Beate Meißner handed over the funding, which was approved late last year. The money covered a full upgrade of the stage lighting system in the school's assembly hall.
The ceremony brought together local officials and school representatives. Among the attendees were Mayor Martin Müller, treasurer Bianca Engel, deputy student leader Katharina Stelzig, and state parliament member Martin Henkel. Henkel praised the school's role in the region and thanked Dittmar, along with the school association, for their dedication. During the event, the 12th-grade Spanish class performed a birthday serenade for Dittmar. Minister Meißner also offered her personal congratulations to the headmistress. The grant is part of a wider increase in school funding across Thuringia. Over the past five years, investment in school infrastructure has risen by around 20% through the state's building programme. In 2023 alone, a record €150 million was allocated for renovations and new builds at over 100 schools.
The upgraded lighting system is now in place, improving the school's facilities for events and performances. The ceremony also recognised Dittmar's long-standing contribution to education as she celebrated her milestone birthday.
