Vacha honours war victims in solemn Remembrance Day ceremony

Vacha marked Remembrance Day on 19 January with a solemn ceremony. City officials and a local pastor gathered to honour those lost in war and violence. The event paid tribute to soldiers from both world wars, as well as victims of terrorism and oppression worldwide.

Mayor Martin Müller, city councillors Michael Wolf and Matthias Niebergall, and Pastor Roland Jourdan led the commemorations. They began by laying wreaths at the memorial for German soldiers who died on 3 April 1945, buried in Vacha Cemetery.

The wreath-laying ceremonies in Vacha concluded with quiet reflection. Both German and Soviet soldiers were remembered, alongside countless others affected by war and oppression. The event reinforced the town’s commitment to honouring those who suffered in past and present conflicts.
